Special Reward of up to $50,000!
STORY BY VICENTE ARENAS/GREG NIETO - KDVR/KWGN (9:24 PM, AUGUST 07, 2020)
DENVER (KDVR) — A deadly house fire in Green Valley Ranch that claimed the lives of five people on Wednesday is being investigated as a homicide.
According to a Metro Denver Crime Stoppers bulletin, “The fire appeared to be deliberately set by unknown persons who fled the area.”
Investigators remain tight lipped about a vehicle description. Denver Police Department Division Chief Joe Montoya said, “because we don’t want individuals to get rid of evidence or destroy the car or hide the car.”
Montoya said in a news conference on Friday that investigators determined early on the fire was intentionally set and have been investigating it as a homicide.
A national Muslim Advocate group is asking police to investigate the killings as a possible hate crime. But Denver police are saying they’re not ready to do that just yet.
“We don’t want to get tunnel vision into a motive. There are some cases in the front end that its very evident that what the motive was for a crime this is not one of those cases,” Montoya said.
As of Friday, the reward for information stands at $14,000. It could increase with additional contributions.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is assisting in the arson investigation and working with DPD to determine the cause of the fire.
Montoya said beyond the money, he is sending a heartfelt plea for anyone with information to come forward and speak to authorities.
FOX31’s Vicente Arenas spoke to Djibril Diol’s father before the news conference on Friday.
“I lost my son. My good son. Son I love. A son that never give me a hard time,” Abdouaye Djibril said.
Djibril told us he could not imagine anyone who would want to hurt his son and his family.
He said his son had worked hard to attend Colorado State University and earn an engineering degree.
A small memorial is now growing at the home.
“At first, you don’t know what to do with this. It’s gut-wrenching,” said Rachel Chin, who brought flowers to the memorial. “You just never want that to be in your neighborhood. You never want that to be in your city. You don’t want to believe it’s possible.”

Leo is Missing (Nov 2019)

Special Reward of up to $3,000!
PARK COUNTY, Colo. — A Texas family is asking Coloradans for help finding their missing goldendoodle, Leo.
Leo was last seen on Nov. 25 just outside Fairplay in Park County while the family was on vacation. Now, Metro Denver Crime Stoppers has issued an alert, offering a reward for anyone with information that leads to Leo.
Matt Betty says his wife and kids were walking Leo off-leash when he picked up on a scent and wandered into the woods.
“I could follow his tracks moving down the road and they stopped about three or four cabins down from where we were staying,” said Betty.
Betty says the tracks stopped abruptly and he felt something wasn’t right. That’s why he now believes someone took the family dog.
“We spent a lot of time going up the mountain, down the mountain just in that general area looking for tracks or evidence. And there was not any,” said Betty.
Based on those circumstances, law enforcement also believes Leo was taken. Michael Mills with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers says it’s possible the motive was to sell Leo or give him as a Christmas gift. Betty says dogs like Leo, a goldgendoodle, can cost up to $2,000 as puppies.
Between Metro Denver Crime Stoppers and the Betty family, a up to $3,000 reward is offered to anyone who comes forward with information leading to Leo.
“When we started that vacation, everybody was quite excited and looking forward to being with family and playing in the snow. Unfortunately, it took a very negative turn. We’re just trying to get our dog back home,” said Betty.
Anyone with information on Leo can leave an anonymous tip with Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Special Reward of up to $15,000!
Denver, Colorado: 17-year-old Diego Marquez was found lying on the ground in Green Valley West Ranch Park at East 45th Avenue and Argonne Street around 8:10 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The investigation revealed that Diego was shot and killed around 1 a.m. on September 21st.
Four months after Diego’s death, the Denver Police announced that an arrest had been made in the case and that they were holding an unidentified juvenile male in connection with the death of Diego. The arrest was a direct result of an anonymous tip from Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
Throughout the course of the investigation, it was determined that the juvenile suspect in custody had an accomplice and now detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a second suspect in this case.
“When there is an arrest in a case it doesn’t mean that it is solved or closed,” said Danney Goracke, Metro Denver Crime Stoppers Board Member. “We want to make sure that everyone who is involved in a case is brought to justice and I know that detectives, the family and MDCS wont rest until that is done.”
Denver Police Lieutenant Matt Clark said, “our detectives are working very diligently on this and there have been some very good Crime Stoppers tips and we are hopeful the increased reward motivates others to come forward who have information.”
The additional reward monies have been made possible thanks to Diego’s family and a generous anonymous donation.
Diego’s father, Jose Marquez, said, “I’m just wanting to get justice for my son and get those individuals off the streets. You’d be doing the right thing, giving that information you have. I know someone knows a lot of things.”

Erik McAllister (Aug 2019) - RESOLVED
1/22/2021 - An arrest has been made and charges have been filed.
1/22/2021: A suspect is in custody in Erik McAllister’s killing. Michael Bettale has been charged with first-degree murder.
DENVER – The family of a man killed in the West Highland neighborhood three months ago is adding to the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers reward fund to help find his killer.
Erik McAllister, 41, was shot and killed on Aug. 3 just before 2 a.m. outside The Beer Depot near West 38th Avenue and Tennyson Street.
His widow, Tiffaney Boening, says the sudden loss is even harder because she does not know who killed him or why.
“He was amazing, my best friend, best dad, best everything to everybody. It’s horrible, there’s no why. There is no closure. Can you get closure? Is that even the right word? But you just want to know what happened and why," Boening said.
McAllister was shot just outside the bar where he had gone for a date with Boening.
“I was paying the bill, he went outside to smoke. He never came back in, so I went outside to look for him and that's when I found him," Boening said.
Detectives say bars in the area were letting out and there were a lot of people in the area at the time of the shooting. They are hoping someone saw something that they have not yet reported.
“We just got to find that one piece. Sometimes it’s just one person, sometimes it's more than one person that can provide that information to close the case and help this family," Denver Police Det. Bruce Gibbs said.
McAllister’s family has added $1,000 to the reward fund, bringing it now to $3,000. They hope someone will come forward with information that can help solve the case.
“Somebody has to know something, even if they feel it is insignificant or something small, we want to know. We want them to call Crime Stoppers," said Racheal Dowd, McAllister's aunt. "There’s that big, dark cloud hanging over it and we need that to go away so we can start to heal and grieve and come to terms with the fact Erik is no longer here."
Boening said it would mean the world to her and their sons to know who killed McAllister and why.
“He would give you the shirt off his back. That's why I don't understand how someone could walk up to him and not even known the kind of person he was because if they did, they would've never taken him like this," Boening said.
