Shortly after the new Crime Stoppers Animal Cruelty program started, a concerned citizen called the anonymous tip line to report a situation that had been a concern for quite a while. Due to the call, the Jefferson County Animal Control and Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation, and ultimately, seized nearly 200 rabbits from the home of an alleged rabbit breeder. Investigators reported the conditions as deplorable and the cages lacked food or water. The rabbits were taken to a shelter and cared for by veterinarians. Eventually, many will be adoptable.
